A Heavy Loss In The Hip Hop World


There has been a huge loss in the world of Hip Hop today as Jamaican born rap legend Heavy D passed away unexpectantly. Only aged 44, his death came as a shock to his family and friends. Shock came especially to his fans who had read tweets from him during the day - one being a retweet regarding the death of Joe Fraizer yesterday. The sad news was broken by fellow rapper Grandmaster Flash tweeted, "I was just told Heavy D passed away".

The rapper broke into the industry with the Boyz with their debut 'Livin Large' and later found fame with his hit 1991 song 'Now That We Found Love' which featured Aaron Hall. He was the first rapper to embrace his size with his self proclaiming song 'The Overweight Lovers In The House'. Then paving the way for the likes of Biggie Smalls and Fat Joe...

Joe Fraizer Dies From Cancer


Legendary boxer Joe Fraizer, famous for his left hook sadly passed away yesterday from liver cancer. Only diagnosed just over a month ago, the undisputed World Heavyweight boxing champion died at his home in Philadelphia just aged 67.

Amongst many fans and friends paying tribute including George Foreman, the one that stood out the most today was from his great rival Muhammad Ali:

"The world has lost a great champion...I will always remember Joe with respect and admiration. My sympathy goes out to his family and loved ones."

The pair had met on three occasions between 1971 and 1975 - two of the fights between that time being regarded the best fights in heavyweight history. Fraizer also known as 'Smokin' Joe' has left a great dent in the sports realm and will surely and truly be missed.

Rihanna On The Tube Video

Remember a month ago when Rihanna shocked London, by riding on the Jubilee Line to her own concert..? If you don't check that post here. If you do, well know there's a documented video version of her journey from one of London's most expensive hotel's - The Savoy to the O2 Arena. Check that out after the jump. RiRi's sixth studio album Talk That Talk is out on 21st Novemember (UK).

Belieber has Beiber's Baby..?

I'm not a belieber, and one thing I don't beliebe is that teen pop sensation Justin Bieber has fathered a baby. If it is true, well I'm totally shocked that he knows his willy does anything else other than help him urinate !! Really and truly I don't believe that he's fathered a child, and that it is just a fantasy of a silly 20 year old. Yes 20 year old - which in California would have made him having sex at 16 illegal. I'm sure Justin is a law abiding citizen, and also would not have knock a girl up backstage of his show. 

Maybe the claimant, Mariah Yeater got ideas after possibly reading and interview he did with Women's Wear Daily where he told them:

"Well by 25 or 26, I want to see myself, like, married or start looking for a family...I want to be a young dad."

OBVIOUSLY... not that young, he's only 17 and still young and one year away from the consenting age of sex. Lawyers supporting the popstars tart so called baby mother, say that there is 'credible evidence'. A friend of the girl told the Mirror...

Rhythmix vs. Rhythmix

Rhythmix the only girlband in this years X Factor top 12 are stuck in a bit of a bother regarding their band name. A charity with the same name has contacted Simon Cowell founder of SYCO Entertainment has been acused of using the name being fully aware that it was a licenced/registered name for the childrens charity. A Facebook page was even set up in protest against the X Factor winner holding this years Christmas number one spot.

Rhythmix will now have to change their name. A spokesman for The X Factor has said:

"At the request of the charity Rhythmix, the members of the girl group Rhythmix have decided to change their name, a decision which has the support of Syco and TalkbackThames. The group's new name will be announced in due course."

Really Rhytmix - even though thrown together by the judges (because they're desperate for a group to win this year) should have researched their name. Then again, it might have been given too them so they're not entirely at fault. Mr Cowell should have known better. What do you think they should call themselves now..?

Drake Covers The Source's Power 30 Issue

The third visual from Beyonce's album 4 is here in remix form. The track 'Party' features Kanye West and Andre 3000 on the album - and is most likely the version you hear on the radio hourly.

However, Bey decides to Party with Dream villain, J.Cole - which is a good move for him. I love Jermaine to bits, but I prefer Andre's verse on the track - to be honest I'm much more used to hearing and rapping along to it.

THE VISUAL... definitely meets the brief - 'we love to party' and is a load of great fun. It also features cameo appearances from a few well known faces such as Bey's sister Solange Knowles, best mate Kelly Rowland and eye wear designers/fashionistas Coco & Breezy.

IS BEY 'DRIPPING SWAGU'..? Yes and no. I'm not feeling all her outfits - especially the green number she has one but some are looking really cool. One must say Jermaine is looking hella fly especially next to the Bugatti's, swagu all over that fo' sure !!

Take Care In 22 Days


Drake fans would have been really excited today as his second studio album, Take Care was supposed to be dropping today. However the rapper's album has been put back a couple weeks and is now set to be released November 15th, which is almost a year to date when he revealed the name of the album. It is a disappointment but there are three sample clearances that need to be sorted out before the album is put up. Now we would want our Drizzy to be all tied up in legal stuff, would we..? Like he did when his 'Best I Ever Had' did.

Hopefully his special release plans still go ahead, because if the original date has been changed maybe his 'birthday edition' idea is now void (I HOPE NOT).  He told Entertainment Weekly in a interview during the summer:

Obviously, I can only fit so many songs on a CD. So what I’m doing is there will be a Take Care physical edition in stores that’ll hopefully have 15 to 17 songs on it. Then I know a lot of people do deluxe editions. But since October 24 is a special day for me, I got, like, a Take Care birthday edition that I’m going to put on iTunes that will have extra songs. I really want to encourage people to be excited about the album releasing. I remember how excited a lot of artists used to make me. I used to want to buy the physical copy to see the artwork. And if there were any bonus tracks, I’d go find them. I’m definitely trying to cause some of that excitement. I hope people go get the songs off the birthday edition. It’s going to be great, man. I’ve got a wide array of music this time. I’m very excited.

SO...we've got a 22 day wait I guess.

Kelly Rowland Gets Down


Kelly Rowland is currently shutting it down, putting it down and now she's getting down with her new visual for her single 'Down For Whatever'. Just last week the sexy superstar gave us the oh so sexual video for 'Lay It On Me' and the sexiness doesn't stop there in her new clip - again directed by Sarah Chatfield and choreographed by Frank Gatson. The visual isn't sexually charged like her previous tracks but it does show Kelly getting her groove on and striking a few sexy poses. Though the electro tinged track produced by RedOne produced may not be for everyone, it keeps Kelly relevant and shows how versatile she is...

'Dem Babies' To Finally Debut !!

It's been just almost 7 months since Mariah Carey brought her and hubby Nick Cannon twins, Monroe and Moroccan into the world, and we're still yet to see their faces. Since the twins birth on April 30th we've only seen a photograph of one of Monroe's hands !! Now ABC has provided Mariah's 'Lambs' (the name of her fan base) with a lovely family photo - still without the twins faces revealed.

Well this Friday 'Dem Babies' will make their debut on ABC's 20/20 in an interview with Barbara Walters this Friday at 10pm EST.

It will hopefully be hitting our entertainment news/music channels in the UK during the course of Saturday. Or some form of footage from the interview will be posted online.

Nicki Minaj Gets Her Weezy On !!

If you were to view the femcee's Twitter bio you would find that Nicki Minaj describes herself as a; Platinum selling recording artist, writer and actress. Now all that we've heard and seen via her music videos. Also any fan would know that she is a really animated character, not just her funny faces but her very different personalities, now there is a new addition to the family... 

Is Rozay Okay..?


Concerns for rapper Rick Ross are currently blowing Twitter up as #prayforRickRoss trends worldwide. WHY..? The Teflon Don suffered not one, but two seizures on his way to a concert in Memphis, Tennessee in the States a couple hours ago. According to TMZ:

Rick Ross' private jet made an emergency landing in Birmingham, Alabama, 2 hours ago, en route to his concert in Memphis ... and we found out he suffered another seizure.

It's the second time today where a plane in which the rapper was a passenger made an emergency landing ... Rick suffered a seizure this morning on a Delta flight that returned to the Ft. Lauderdale airport.
Rick went to the hospital, was released, and then took off at 5:07 PM ET from Ft. Lauderdale to make his concert tonight in Memphis. But at 5:44 PM CDT, the plane was diverted and landed in Birmingham after Rick had a seizure on board.

Before Rick took off from Ft. Lauderdale, he tweeted a video showing he was ok.

In the clip (after the jump) he seems fine, and hopefully he is. He was due at his concert at 7:30 PM EST - whether he arrived and actually took the stage is another thing. Two seizures would be well past enough for me to cancel a concert. Health over money any day, but at the same time you wouldn't want to let down your fans. What would you do..? Hit me up.

Kelly Lays It On Us !!

My oh, my Kelly Rowland is 'putting it down' !! I didn't think anything could get sexier than her 'Motivation' video that dropped during the summer, but with the help of director Sarah Chatfield she's topped it. The song 'Lay It On Me' doesn't top the lyrics and the sensual and sexy sound of the 'Motiation' but the visual takes the song to a whole new level... 

You've Got A Friend In Me


I'm sure upon reading the sub-heading, you read it in a particalar voice and tone. If I'm correct you would have sung in the voice of Randy Newman. WHO..? Well that's the guy who sang the song you must think of when the 1995 film Toy Story. Now you must be thinking now, that that's a little unusual in genre for this blog - but you've got to admit it classifies as a throwback. WHY.. is it this weeks throwback track..?

RiRi Tubes It To The O2 !!

Yesterday, a bunch of London Underground commuters were lucky to share a Jubilee Line carriage with the world famous popstar Rihanna !! The 23 year old superstar rode the train to North Greenwich, South London for the first installment of her 10 shows at the O2. Riri seemed to be in a good mood, as you would - getting to perform for a UK crowd !! She has been dubbed a 'down to earth' person and I'm sure Navy (Rihanna's fans) will love her even more for her crazy stunt - I do !!

The photo that is currently floating around cyber space was taken by tweeter, @LisaMarieSays_ who sadly didn't get a snap with the singer - and also isn't getting the credit for her legendary photo.  However, she did get to speak to her briefly as shown in her tweet that was tweeted with the photo above:


A lucky @paulfirmin got a retweet from to the down earth popstar...

New Video: Headlines


Drake's lead single 'Headlines' from his upcoming sophomore album, Take Care has been knocking about for a while know so it's about time there was a visual for it. Finally Lamar Taylor & Hyghly Alleyne have directed a very cinematic video for the Canadian rapper in his home town Toronto. The video just features Drizzy smoking a Cuban, going up in a lift and standing with an entourage of an OVO posse. Though that sounds boring - and a bunch of people always seem to complain about his visuals; if you're a visual person and enjoy the art of cinema and photography you WILL enjoy. The fast moving visual is totally awesome if I must say - though Drake may not be doing much the shots, and the video quality is crystal. Just a pre-warning, if you suffer from epilepsy or basically can't take fast moving pictures I don't think this one is for you !! Check out the clip after the jump, and enjoy !!

J. Cole Out Today !!


It's been a long wait for this day to come. Cole World: The Sideline Story is FINALLY here !! J. Cole has given us plenty of free music via his official mixtapes. Now finally we can actually go out and buy something and sort of give something back. Though some of the tracks have been heard and the album has leaked that hasn't upset Mr No Blankie, if anything he's taken it possitivly as he told VIBE in an interview:

“If anything the leak will reach out to more people who might be like ‘ah man, let’s go get this.’ So you know, it’s kind of like promotion these days—if you got a good album. If you don’t have a good album—they’ll just trash you.


There’s been worse leaks than that so I understand it’s apart of the game—I always understood that. As long as people hear it together—it’s cool. I just know that people who are going to buy it were going to buy it anyways and the people who weren’t—probably weren’t anyways.”

Kay Doggz: D.I.Y ft. Humuh & Redzy
UK, music is up on a rise. Now some of out homegrown talent have made it big across the pond, it has opened windows and doors for our next generation of stars. Let me introduce you to a new artist coming from South London to keep a look out for, Kay Doggz. Here's a video for a track he made alongside two other UK artists, Humuh and Redzy called 'D.I.Y'. Speaking to him he told me:

In the video we was just trying to have fun and make something different.

They surely have fun in the short but catchy song. Be sure to look out for another video coming out called 'I'm Goin In' and his mixtape Study Time. I'll be keeping you updated with that, in the meanwhile check out the video after the jump...

Fringe Season Four Is Here

All of a sudden all the good shows are coming back to our television sets. Reality tv show, fiction, the works. It's all great stuff because autumn is here and as the days get colder and shorter and people are more likely to stay in during the evenings. On the other hand the clashes are bloody irritating. There's nothing more annoying during tv time when your favourite shows clash. Yes I know you can record shows and all that jazz, but it's bar the point. ANYWAY...to the main point of this post. Labrinth: Earthquake

Producer Labrinth has teamed up with Tinie Tempah on a new track, which is the second single from his upcoming album Futherworks. The electro-tinged track entitled 'Earthquake' is truly destined to tear up the charts when it is released in October...

J. Cole is really upping the ante for the release of his debut album, Cole World: The Sideline Story. After the long wait - bearing in mind we've still got a few more days to go yet, he's been dropping the tracks and the videos. The second single, 'Can't Get Enough' featuring hottie Trey Songz finally has a visual.

Classic Bow Wow

Bow Wow, just tweeted this classic photo of him with Jay-Z and Jermaine Dupri. Seeing this just reminded me of the good old days of R&B and Hip Hop. When the productions were absolutely tight and lyrics were much more meaningful. So just before the day is out in the UK (10minutes to spare) I thought I'd drop another Throwback Thursday !! I'm taking it back to the year 2000 when he went by the name of Lil' Bow Wow. 'Bounce With Me' was the first and lead single of his debut album, Beware Of Dog and was obviously produced by Dupri. The song featured girl group XSCAPE and appearances from Jagged Edge and Da Brat. The video includes clips from Big Momma's House, as the track featured on the hit films soundtrack. It's so hard to believe this was 11 years ago !! Check it out...

Throwback Thursday: Nelly

This Throwback Thursday I'm taking it back to the year 2001. With the new millennium just one year in, every one getting comfortable and embracing the new: this was definitely a year filled with great music. 

Rihanna: We Found Love

Today Rihanna dropped something new called 'We Found Love', produced and featuring DJ Calvin Harris. The pair have been constantly tweeting about the song within the last 18 hours or so, and boy they've been excited. Word has it the single is the lead of her sixth studio album - that she is currently working on. The song premiered on London's radio station, Capital FM, shortly followed by Choice FM and urban radio station in the same building. The song will be a hit, and most likely if not definitely top the charts. The production is really good - couldn't expect any less from Calvin. The dance track though catchy isn't Rihanna's best. Though Calvin tweeted she sounds like an 'angel' the song lacks substance. This song should have been released in August in my eyes, with people jetting off to or at least still in the party island mood. I definitely see this track landing on the dance track compilation CDs. It's definitely a grower. Check it out for yourselves after the break, and also check out their tweets.

Throwback Thursday: Kanye West


This Throwback Thursday track has to be one of my favourite Kanye West tracks. The song though rude, is just filled with so much energy and makes you want to get involved and get down with the title.

Yes, if you've guessed, it's 'New Workout Plan'. When this Lil' Jon produced song came out I knew the lyrics to the whole song - including the skit with the crazy weight losing women near the end - (FIFI LEBEOUFF BEING THE BEST !!) With his whit and simple rhymes it was totally easy to learn with a few listens.

The early Kanye days with songs such as this, he was much more satirical and his music was so much easier to relate to than the new stuff his coming out with these days, but hey people still loathe love him !!

The video directed by was just hilarious, and as any silly teenager would I used to join in with the routine and add my own dance moves in the mix; from the start right through to the end.
