New Music: Common – War

Common announces a new album with No I.D and drops brand new track, 'War'.

Set to release his tenth studio album later this year, veteran MC Common kicks off the brand new year with some real socially conscious music.

Entitled 'War' the all-round star paints a very realistic picture of the violence in his hometown Chicago on the No I.D. production.

'War' takes on a call-to-action concept and theme set to be featured on his forthcoming album with long-time friend No. ID, Nobody Smiling.
Speaking on the collaboration which commemorates the 20th anniversary of the pair's 1994 album Resurrection, Common told REVOLT:

2014 will be one of my greatest times in music.

Originally I was making an EP, but we’ve just been making a lot of songs—myself and No I.D.—and I liked the direction.

We came up with this concept Nobody Smiling [and it] was really a thought that came about because of all the violence that was going on in Chicago, or that is going on in Chicago.
Ever hopeful and inspiring, Common hopes that 'War' and the rest of the album will serve as a call-to-action, not only in his hometown but around the world.

Nobody Smiling is the follow-up to 2011′s The Dreamer/The Believer and is set to drop later this year. Listen and download 'War' below.
