Drake’s “Nothing Was The Same” Goes Platinum

Wednesday, November 06, 2013

Drake's third studio "Nothing Was The Same" goes platinum just under two months of its release.

It hasn't even been two months since the release of Drake's third studio album Nothing Was The Same and it's already sold a million copies and become platinum certified. Now that's super fast! According to Hits Daily Double, the LP sold approximately 38,274 copies this week, pushing it over the 1 million bench mark. The album which is his fastest selling effort yet joins its predecessors, Take Care and Thank Me Later in their platinum glory.

Drizzy is currently in the midst of the US stretch of his 'Would You Like A Tour?', which is set to hit the UK and Europe in February 2014. On air, the radios are currently spinning his latest single 'The Language' which follows his Jay-Z featuring track 'Pound Cake'.

Drake’s singles have done really well, the popular anthem 'Started From The Bottom' and 'Hold On, We’re Going Home' are both platinum. Both singles have videos and visual for 'Worst Behaviour' is pending.

On the flip side of the coin, Nicki Minaj isn't very happy about the Young Money family not being featured on the album. Speaking to DJ Whoo Kid she said:

I'm Young Money 'til the death of me. Drake can do what Drake do, but Nicki Minaj is a whole different person. I think your team is your team. Who gives a fuck about trying to be different? I'm always going to want my team to be a part of my project, no matter what, in some way.
Has she forgotten Birdman is on the outro of 'The Language'? Talk about bitter! Back to the positive, Nothing Was The Same is the second hip-hop album to go platinum this year so far, with Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail gaining certification before it's release, with thanks to Samsung's huge campaign.

Congratulations Drizzy and the OVO crew!
