Video: DJ Khaled - No New Friends (ft Drake, Rick Ross & Lil Wayne)

DJ Khaled and co. take us back to the 90s in the video for his latest anthem, 'No New Friends'.

'No New Friends' should be "nothing new", as that's what the video for DJ Khaled's latest anthem shows.

The track featuring Drake, Rick Ross and Lil Wayne is a banger, one can't lie about that, but the attempt to throw it back lacks luster.
Directed by Colin Tilley, the video features a brick phone, poolside-honeys, a Hummer stretch-limo, an open top jeep, a chopper, champagne and a bubble bath. The list could go on! Despite the time stamp May 15, 1996 nothing really shouts whoop woo the nineties apart from a few of those items and of course Drizzy's basketball jersey.

The weaves worn by the vixens are far too advanced for the 90s and the 'current' product placement spoils everything (no one had those headphones in the nineties). What I did like was the blue-lit room and the fact that Weezy wasn't wearing high colours and leopard print! The cameo from Fat Joe was pretty cool too, and that was about it.

The meme ideology is probably overused right now, with the 90s feel being back and people trying to "throw it back" left right and bloody centre. More thought should have gone into the video - prop wise - to make it more believable. Come on, DJ Khaled shouting down one brick phone, just to show it's 1996? Try harder next time guys!
