An Andre 3000 rep confirms the death of Sharon Benjamin-Hodo, according to Billboard.com.

It's a sad day today, as the news of a much loved Hip-Hop artist's mother has died. According to Billboard.com, André "3000" Benjamin's mother Sharon Benjamin-Hodo has passed away.

Several sources have indicated that the André's mother has passed away in her home in Georgia Atlanta home in her sleep. The sad news comes just days after the rapper's 38th birthday on May 27. This morning, a representative for the musician/actor confirmed her death to Billboard.
His mother was the founder of The Starlight Camp for underprivileged children, which she operated at her husband, Pastor Robert Hodo's, church - New Morning Light Missionary Baptist Church.

Fans and members of the Atlanta community, including rappers Bun B and Big Gipp, have tweeted their condolences to André and his family.
