J. Cole introduces fans to the more personally side to his life with a conceptual series.

As we count down the days to the release of J. Cole's sophomore album, Born Sinner, the North Carolinian rapper launches a conceptual series to honour the people who have influence his life the most.

Showcased on Bornsinner.com, a digital platform created by the Dreamville collective, the first installment documents his mother Kay Cole, and the day her son retired her from her United States Postal Service job.

Far from the richest rapper, but my biggest personal achievement thus far in my life has been retiring my mom early from her job at the Post Office. It's a tiny payback for the sacrifices she made that allowed me to chase a far-fetched dream of becoming a successful artist. I'm forever grateful.
The site will feature unique, personally curated content each week leading up to the release of his highly anticipated sophomore album Born Sinner on June 25.

Listen to Kay's anecdote about the day she retired, accompanied with photos taken by Sharone Poole.
